I had a delivery of perfumes to make, and I was feeling quite pleased with myself, imagining the delightful scents that would soon be wafting through the air. As I approached a particular stretch of the street, I found myself confronted by an unusual obstacle: a herd of cows. Yes, you read that right—cows! They were leisurely taking up the entire road, as if they owned the place. Now, I’m not one to shy away from a challenge, but I must admit, the sight of those large, placid creatures blocking my path gave me pause. I decided to wait it out, hoping they’d clear the way soon enough.

As I stood there, contemplating my next move, a teenager appeared on the scene. She was walking with a certain confidence, the kind that only comes with youth. Without a hint of hesitation, she navigated her way through the bovine blockade, making it look as easy as pie. I watched her approach, a little envious of her fearless stride.

When she reached me, she didn’t just pass by quietly. Oh no, that wouldn’t do. Instead, she stopped, looked me right in the eye, and with a boldness that took me by surprise, she asked, “Are you scared?” Her question hung in the air, and I felt a mix of emotions. As I passed the cows, I could feel her eyes on me, and I was reminded of how sometimes, it’s the smallest encounters that challenge us the most.

In the end, I made it through the herd without incident. But the experience left me with a story to tell and a reminder of the audacity of youth. Teenagers may be bold and sometimes a bit rude, but they also have a way of pushing us out of our comfort zones, making us confront our fears—whether we’re ready or not.
